is double-precision Pd a possible way to get around interpolation
artifacts (B16.long-varispeed.pd) for tabread4~ and delread4~?
I found out that I can have both, single and double precision Pd,
installed in parallel in Debian, thank's to IOhannes clever packaging.

I suspect that externals have to be compiled for double precision as
well? Will I have to install specific externals via Deken or apt then?
Are all™ such externals available in both flavours?

just curious, what's the rationale to have
/usr/bin/pd pointing to /etc/alternatives/pd , which is a symlink to
/usr/bin/puredata on Debian?

Hi, dear list !
I know that there are alternatives to the illustrated problem, but i
just wanted to point out (haha), that the "pointer" method for [array]
objects is hardly documented and actually seems to be not working at all.
While said method works fine for [text], i have to say that [text]'s
help patches would also benefit from a demonstration of that feature.
I personnaly find it very handy to be able to use [text] (or [array])
for local tasks only without having to worry about naming issues
(duplicates etc.).
In my attached example, i was working on a simple vanilla-based
binary-to-digital converter and i wanted to use [array sum] as a
handmade [accum] object. While the "naming" method with array obviously
works, the "pointer" method either doesn't or i don't understand it.
Thanks for any clarifications (and yes, i am aware of other vanilla and
externalized methods to achieve this - but i try to understand [array]'s
pointer logic)

Hi,
I wanted to see the examples of the 3-body problem and then I realized that I cannot open “bin” files sent to the list in my macOS system. Google says to use the Unarchiver app, but that didn’t work either. I wonder whether the bin files were corrupt or how you guys open these files in macOS…

I’m trying yet again to attach a debugger to Pd (yes the pd cli in the bundle content). In the past it has worked, and now I get an error (errSecInternalComponent) and I cannot get it to attach…
Any pointers welcome.

had no idea about. Regarding multi-channel specifically, is there a
tutorial or intro or how-to anywhere explaining the basic concepts and

dear list,
after experimenting quite a bit with a perlin noise abstraction
(patched after https://cs.nyu.edu/~perlin/noise/), i tried to create
an external for similar use cases based on an existing simplex noise
implementation, aiming for better performance and support for up to 4
dimensions.
a test release is available on https://github.com/ben-wes/simplex
i'm considering uploading this to deken. but before doing so, i wanted
to check if there might be feedback or objections from people with
more experience (including concerns about the validity of a
single-object upload?).
one rather simple, but to me quite interesting use case is a variation
of scanned synthesis (if i understood that concept correctly), where a
3d noise space is sampled in a spiral movement - this is demonstrated
in the help file.

The submission deadline for the Speculative Sound Synthesis Symposium 2024 has been extended to May 12, 2024. This extension is intended to give potential contributors more time to prepare and submit their proposals.
Speculative Sound Synthesis deals with the relationship between technology and artistic thinking in computer music. It attempts to productively destabilize this relationship by artistically questioning the standards of sound synthesis.
Call for Contributions
We are looking for artistic research contributions that investigate speculative approaches to sound synthesis, computation, and music technology. These contributions should explore aesthetic positions that offer alternative perspectives to standardized ways of thinking and creating. The symposium aims to unite speculative approaches that make computational processes perceptible and address the tension between contingency and control in artistic practice.
Contribution Formats
We welcome proposals that use a variety of formats, such as (but not limited to) live-performance, lecture-performance, paper presentation, fixed-media, installation, workshop, exhibition of objects/sounds etc.
