Hi List,
when trying to initialize a netreceive object with pd 0.47.1 or pd
0.48 (32bit) on Windows 7, I get the message
"netreceive: failed to sett SO_BROADCAST"
in the pd window. Does somebody know what is causing this? The Windows
firewall settings seem to be open for pd.

hi,
this is on windows 7 / 64bit, PD 0.48.1
after updating from 0.48.0 to 0.48.1, the thickness of all object and
message inlets/outlets has increased by 1 pixel (see attached image).
this may not sound like much, but when opening heavy patches it gets
very irritating on the eye. is there a specific reason for this change ?
can it be customized ?

Hello everyone,
the jmmmp library of abstractions has been updated. This is mainly a
maintenance update, for Pd Extended, Purr Data and Pd Vanilla compatibility
(in Pd Vanilla, still several external libraries are necessary).
I would like to know if everything works out, specially objects such as
[matrixctrl], [jp.menu] and [jp.preset].
Feel free to download it and try it out. You can also download it through
deken, search for jmmmp.
For more informations and a tarball file, go to
http://puredata.info/downloads/jmmmp/releases/0.48

Hi all,
I'd like to install pd-extended and GEM on a old laptop (hp 550, Intel
Celeron 1 GHz and 1 GB RAM) with linux 16.
Could you tell me, how I have to do it?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!
All the best
Carlo
Everyone, this should not be a surprise

I spent *2 weeks* working on the GUI and there was extensive tweaking back and forth asking for feedback for a fews weeks afterwards both on this list and on Github:
https://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-dev/2017-09/021272.html <https://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-dev/2017-09/021272.html>

It's not like I / we suddenly pulled a "fast one."
Things move in steps. First was to fix a lot of the sizing issues as related to fonts, different platforms, and zooming. Part of porting in the extended sizing was that many people seemed to want it and, in the future, it would be much easier to allow for showing different inlet/outlet types. At least it would be an *option*.
A possible next step is to expose sizing and color options like this, but I only focused on fixes and laying the groundwork. As we can see, it doesn't;t seem to be possible to make *everyone* happy.

Some people might as "are the inlets being a different size than the outlets really unavoidable?" :)

Not yet. But it now *could* be a setting as the sizing was hardcoded before and now it relies on a single define. This define could now be more easily replaced by a variable.

Really? Would you really *not* use Pd over this? For now, you can build Pd yourself and change the io height: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/blob/master/src/g_canvas.h#L47 <https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/blob/master/src/g_canvas.h#L47>
"bloated?" Come on, it's like 1 pixel makes it look like MAX...

Dear list,
is it possible to send out mouse clicks from PD to a webpage for example?
Means telling the system the x and y positions of the mouse and a click on
this position?
Best,
Popesz
I was wondering if anyone knows if there exists an external or
abstraction that records and plays back OSC messages within PD. I have
found a couple of standalone programs but was wondering if anything
exists within PD.
Thanks,
Jim
I notice something similar on Mac, maybe not as drastic as on Windows, however, personally i also favor the old, thinner style.

Hi William,
A while ago, I ported [shifter~] from Max/MSP to Pd. Shifter is originally written by Tristan Jehan and uses PSOLA for pitch adjustments making it less prone to formant artifacts. I don’t know how to put it in Deken, but I think others could find it useful so I’m sending it as an attachment here (Pd source code, patch, and binaries for Pd-0.48-1/MacOS).
Cheers,
Julian.
