Hi Chris,
Just downloaded Ergates from your site. Do I need to install extra libraries
to get it to run on WIN-XP?
I´m very interested in tying it out.
Cheers, Enrique

In the "virtual reality" musical instrument dept, there's also Mike
Wozniewski's AudioTWIST, as can be seen on this formerly-unpublished

Hi,
the German public radio station "Deutschlandfunk" today aired a short
feature about Pd by Hubert Steins. It's available on the station's
website here:
http://ondemand-mp3.dradio.de/file/dradio/2006/10/16/dlf_200610161551.mp3
The mp3 file may be deleted about 3 months from now, so grab it while
it's hot.
It's in German of course.
Ciao

I have a servo motor which is to be driven by pduino / Arduino.
The following firmware directly uploaded to the arduino (near bottom of
page):
http://itp.nyu.edu/physcomp/Labs/Servo
runs well.
With some modifications the motor moves between 2 positions smoothly enough.
However, trying the same from pd using the pduino (fermata) firmware and
the arduino help pd patch, it's quite a different story.
The pulse-train needed for the PWM control of the servo motor seems too
irregular (due to pd/comport timing?) such that the motor is not
positioned cleanly but jumps around. (at least, that's my interpretation)
I tried both sending PWM from ports 9,10 or 11 (the Amtel-built-in pwm)
and generating some software pwm on other digital out ports.
Is there a way to get rid of this jitter?
( last attempts were running pd 0.39.2 on ubuntu, comport from:
http://wikihost/wikis/techartsound/var/gebo/data/file/comport.pd_linux )
thanks,
Tim
an interesting question on the forum, and something i have often wondered.
is there any way to send messages to gui objects (sliders,
number2..etc) to alter their 'properties'???
hi everybody,
i ask myself if anyone would be so kind to show me a finished composition.
after learning the tutorials and some published patches i'm kinda confused
by the many possibilities pure data offers.
as in programming my way of learning is more like reading through a full
and finished work instead of learning 1 tiny bit then another tiny bit.
looking at a full environment with drumstepsequencer (or such), synthie,
reverb unit and stuff would really boost my learning-curve.
also i think that it would be a good idea to include such a 'main'-patch into
the pd-installation so that people new to this great program are instantly
ready to make music on their machine independent of midi & anything!
you know, i'm sure there were many people installing pd but not eager enough
to understand the whole program resulting in the deinstallation.
for many people it is too timeconsuming to get to a result where they can make music but i think pd should be for anyone also for people who came
from software like reason or fruity loops.
the best opensource audio/video software should be used and be usable by EVERYBODY

Hi,
I have downloaded Pd-0.39.2-extended-test4.dmg and have opened pix_movie.pd.
The problem is when i open a video and play it, i only can see a grey square
which changes of shades, instead of the video.
Anyone knows why?
Javi.

Hi Chris,
I did some progresses ;-)
1)

>directory exists and has .ttf files in it?
No, it's ok.. the fonts are there, (except arial.ttf - which
you correctly assume that it is already in their place from
the GEM install.)
2)
> I got a lot of error messages from GEM:

I suspected that it was my Gem.dll (the error was on
pix_sig2pix~ in instrument 2). After downloading
gem-0.90.1-NT-i586-bin-doc.zip from the IEM download
area everything is fine with GEM now !
In any case, I still got a PD crash without the
-noloadbang flag..

Dear PDpers.
Do you think is possible to connect or use a C programm as a external with
our beloved Pure Data??
Meaning is it possible to use for instance a [pix_video] or something else] and
then use my own C program to make image processing??
Good Vibes

Hi Chris,
I tried Ergates in PD 0.39-2 extended on Win XP
(still without joypad).
In order to make it working I had to:
- get the -> last <- s-abstraction pack (I didn't
have sx/shadow..)
- on XP, like Frank said, I had to disable the loadbang
feature (otherwise PD crashes immediately). So I load the
patch by starting PD with -noloadbang
- press the messages activated by loadbang by hand (at least
the one I was able to find)
- for some reason I had to make the font arial.ttf
visible to GEM (it wasn't, maybe my setup of GEM is
not optimal...)
At this point I can see the GEM window more or less
like in your screenshots, with the geos floating, but still
I got a lot of error messages from GEM:
GL: value not valid
error: inlet: expected '' but got 'gem_state'
Any hints ?
In any case no sound.
Hopefully this weekend I'll try to make a in-depth
look at it, also on Linux. Indeed it would be very nice if
you can get the joypad working with [hid] instead of python..
A question:
How do you switch between the patterns you show in
your screenshots?
