You cannot set as an extra helpath a path with spaces. I tried:
-helppath C:/Documents and Settings/tom/My Documents/Pure
Data/doc/5.reference
Once you set verbose mode, it stays in verbose mode even if it is not
declared in the startup flags or in the registry.
Oohh. I finally got verbose do disengage by checking the checkbox in
Path... then unchecking it!

Hi List,
I'm trying to get Gridflow working on one of two machine - one os x
10.3.9 the other 10.4.2 and failing at the "make" part of the
instructions at:
http://artengine.ca/gridflow/latest/doc/
install.html#Installation_instructions_(incl._compilation)
- at some point in the process, i get hundreds of error of they type:
base/grid.o:81: error: stray '\2' in program
but with various other numbers for '\2'
I have fink and have installed ruby and all of the lib's mentioned on
the above page installed.
I'm sure I'm just being stupid.
I read this:
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/2005-04/027802.html
but wonder if it's not possible to use Gridflow with Han-Christoph's
pd-app?
The posting seems to indicate that PD itself must be compiled (item 4
of post).
Any help appreciated!
Thanks,
p

Expression
conference, organized by IRCAM (Centre Pompidou) in collaboration with
the
MINT-OMF (Sorbonne University) in Paris.
The conference will be held in conjunction with IRCAM's annual Festival
of Performing Arts Agora and the Music Technology Convention
Résonances,
joined for the first time in 2006 to form a single event running from
June 1st to June 17th.
NIME 06 will provide a unique opportunity to confer with an
interdisciplinary
audience of artists, scientists and technologists on the latest
developments
in musical interface design and musical expression.
The meeting will also offer the possibility to network with a
flourishing
local scene of interface and instrument makers, research labs, and
computer
music institutions.
We would like to encourage contributions in the following formats:
* Papers/Reports/Posters/Demos
* Live performances
* Interactive installations
Please subscribe to the NIME 06 community mailing list at
http://listes.ircam.fr/sympa/info/nime06-community.

* Artistic, cultural, and social impact of NIME technology
Submission types are:
- Full Paper (6 pages in proceedings, oral presentation)
- Short Paper (4 pages in proceedings, oral presentation)
- Poster (2 or 4 pages in proceedings)
Although brief demonstrations can be shown during paper sessions, NIME
06 will
give the possibility to schedule demo presentations in dedicated demo
sessions.
The submission procedure will allow to choose an explicit demo option
for any
paper or poster submission.
The simplest demo submission would take the form of a short poster
summarizing
the scientific/technical aspects, acquired experiences and/or the
context of
the development.
Please refer to the NIME 06 web page for detailed submission
information.
(For presentations of commercial products and companies not associated
with a conference submission, there will be exhibit booths.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL SESSION ON VIOLIN-BASED AND VIOLIN-INSPIRED INTERFACES
We encourage the submission of papers to be presented in a special
session on
violin-based and violin-inspired interfaces.
The purpose of this special session is to create an opportunity for
in-depth
discussions on a topic of wide-ranging interest to several of the NIME
themes.
Papers for the special session will be subject to the same review
process as
the other submissions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LIVE PERFORMANCES
An evening concert during the conference will be dedicated to live
performances
hilighting creative use of interactive instrument technology.
We welcome proposals for performances to be featured in the NIME 06
concert.
Please refer to the NIME 06 web page for detailed submission
requirements.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INTERACTIVE INSTALLATIONS
Various spaces in and around the conference venue are reserved for
interactive
sound and multimedia installations.
We welcome proposals for interactive installations to be presented
during the conference. We particularly encourage installations that
could
run during the entire period of Agora/Résonances from June 1 to June
17.
While some of the spaces are closed rooms, others are open spaces such
as
entrance or stairs which encourage site-specific installations.
Dimensions and details about these spaces are available from the
organizing
committee. In all cases, the participant must provide their equipment
for
the installation.
Please refer to the NIME 06 web page for detailed submission
requirements and
descriptions of the provided installation spaces.

Hello list,
I'm feeling a little bit dumb, but is it really not possible to restrict
the output of [ctlin] to input from a specific channel (but all CC#s)?
As far as I can see it is only possible to filter by a CC number (on all
channels) or a channel _and_ a CC number.
I helped myself with a little abstraction but I can't believe it is not
possible with the module itself.
Can anybody tell me how that is working?
Thanks
Urs

Hi all,
The Mootcher has been updated to version 1.3. Complete with updated helpfiles.
Download the latest version from the freesound website http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/mootcher.php
The Mootcher is a opensource external which makes it possible to make a connection to The Freesound Project audio database.
Enjoy!
Cheers,
Jorn
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a way to obtain MIDI data internally for an
external, that is, in the manner that inmidi_noteon() is used for PD's
builtin MIDI objects? ... or is it best to get the values via an inlet?
Thanks,
Jamie
Hi list,
this is to tell you that the first version of PureMeasurement is
available for download:
http://www.hoertechnik-audiologie.de/index.php?p=602
PureMeasurement is a collection of pd-patches (requiring iemlib) aimed
at providing students and researchers with tools to perform acoustical
measurements using audio interfaces.
Feedback welcome!

hi
when you open a patch by msg like [; pd open mypatch.pd .(
. is the directory, where pd was started from.
but when you read a file with [soundfiler] or [textfile],
. is the directory where the patch is saved.
why this difference?
it is no problem to share a patch with soundfiles, if you share
the whole directory, containing the patch and the soundfiles, if
you specify the soundfiles relatively.
but if you share a patch, that opens other patches by msgs, you
need to specify the path (in a msg or in an external textfile)
of the main-directory in order to have all things work correctly.
i'd propose to add an argument to the open-msg:
[; pd open mypatch.pd . 1(
opens the mypatch.pd relatively to the patch where this msg is in.
0 : takes the pd start location as root (in order to keep compatibility)
1 : takes the patch-root
or is there another solution for this problem?
cheers
roman

If its a MIDI device, then use the standard MIDI objects like [midiin],
[noteout], etc.

Hello list,
I have two questions concerning the behaviour of GoP abstractions that
are nested in subpatches.
1)
What's the behaviour of GUI objects that are not visible because they
are in subpatches? Are they updated anyway and use computation time for
this?
Or from the practical point of view: Do I have to accept a performance
penalty if I use a GoP abstraction although I don't need the GoP visual
feedback?
The point is that I have a few GoP abstractions that I sometimes would
like to use without needing the GoP feature (because they are located in
invisible subpatches). I wouldn't like to duplicate the code to have two
versions of the abstraction (one GoP and one without). If I then have an
abstraction with a rather heavy GUI load (but not visible), would that
have impact on the performance of the patch?
2)
Is it impossible to nest GoP abstractions?
I tried to place a GoP abstraction in the GoP area of a subpatch. When
the subpatch is closed I can see the abstraction as an object with its
in- and outlets and correct size but without the GUI objects of the
abstraction.
Did I miss something?
Is this by design?
Is this a fault?
Thanks for any hints
Urs
