Greetings all,
I am attempting to compile PD-0.37-test8 on Red Hat 9. I am having a
problem with the interface being vastly oversized and going way off the
screen. At first I thought it was a problem with PD, but as I was trying to
recompile the kernel today to move to ALSA, it happened in xconfig too. Now
I think its a Tcl/Tk problem. Does anyone know if there is a problem with
Tcl/Tk 8.3 in RH 9? If I go to 8.4, will I have any problems with PD?
Thanks.
Regards,
Tim
Hello,
trying to use channels 4-flag with rme-driver (-32bit) gives me the following
error
/dev/dsp1 (read/write): No such device
(now will try write-only...)
/dev/dsp1 (writeonly): No such device
/dev/dsp1 (readonly): No such device
Obviously pd is trying to use a second device which is not supported according
to Guenther Geiger's driver-readme. pd-0.36 worked fine .......
Greetings
Michael

Hello list,
I asked a similar question a while back, so apologies for repeating myself.
If I have a patch like so:
[osc~ 440]
|
|
[dac~]
Should I get a clean output signal from my speakers?
At the moment, the only way for me to get a signal without distortion is to
do this:
[osc~ 440]
|
|
[*~ 0.0038] <- found through trial and error :-)
|
|
[dac~]
The above patch makes a clear sound for me.
My mixer settings are nominal. Other …
[View More]audio apps - xmms, play, mplayer, etc
work properly.
My question: Is there a "hidden" gain control I can tweak on the pd
command line? Is this behaviour normal? It's as if pd is setting the
sound card's gain to a very high level, causing distortion - but mixer
tells me everything is nominal.
I would simply upgrade to the latest version instead of troubling the list,
but it's proving to be troublesome to compile under FreeBSD 4.8. There is
a ports version, but it is still at 0.35. I'm on the verge of replacing my
FreeBSD with Linux just for the sake of pd :-)
Cheers,
Nick!

linux :)
also can somebody please explain to me why a .lib isn't working in
windows? how do i load multiple libraries, for instance when i'm loading
gem as well as some others? thanks,

All are loading correctly... objects do exist in my patch, they do load, but
they won't appear, simply... about the arrays, I don't know what the
trouble...
And I never had any problem with WinMe... maybe since now... got to proove
that it's WinMe that is faulty there...
to be continued...

i'm sure this is a no-brainer, but just to cover all bases, are you sure
all the libraries you're using are loading correctly? if they don't load
then pd won't recognize the objects that belong to those libraries. yeah
and get rid of WinMe, it's a piece of shit. when i finally switched to XP i
realized that all the problems i was having were attributed to that pile of
crap. anyway you're on europe time right now and it's lights out for me!

Hi
I've worked on a patch since a long time now and since two days, some
objects or links won't appear (whereas they do exist). Some arrays trace ten
feet high curves as if their Y FROM...TO... property was *1000000....
weird....
I read the "Pd 0.36, Win XP and the disappearing objects..." thread but
nothing here to solve the problem (and I'd add that I work on WinMe).
But I just remember I tried to save my project while the computer crashed.
So if PD did only manage to save part of the …
[View More]project, my file may be bugged
now...
Did anyone did a tool to highlight object one by one in a kind of text
editor to see if there's something wrong in the .pd file? Is there any way
to do that? Is there anybody here? HEEELP! ;o)
cheers

Hello,
I am a pd newbie. I just read the manual with great interest. I worked much
with reaktor so I am very interested in the differences between pd and
reaktor.
One difference is the time accuracy of the message processing. In reaktor
messages (called events) have a time resolution of one sample instead of 64
in pd.
I read in the manual under 2.4.4: "You may wish to use block sizes smaller
than 64 to gain finer resolutions of message/audio interaction, .. "
I tried that without success. I …
[View More]started from the the following audio
example: "73.control.blocksize.pd". I added a metro object in the subpatch
where the blocksize is reduced to one sample (block~ 1). The output of the
metro is triggering an envelope with a short spike. Unlike the delaytime of
the feedback delay in the example patch the time gap between two spikes
cannot be set below 64 samples. I attached the file. I am using pd 0.36-0
under winxp.
Maybe I am doing something wrong? Maybe there is an other solution to that.
thank you and regards,
erik
