hi Christian, really sorry for the html tags...* *my dvb-s card is a Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-s Plus PCI http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV_NOVA-s_Plus_PCI* *and actually, it is a budget card so i guess there is no onboard mpeg2 decoder. i'll give softdevice a try, even if that sounds a little bit complicated. thanks a lot for the help. vincent

hi vincent,
to be sure: what kind of card do you have? a full-featured card with mpeg decoder on board, or one of the "budget" cards, that require an external software to decode the transport strean?
if you have the latter, you need something that decodes the stream and feeds it into pd. if the first, it should work, since the decoded video appears as /dev/video device .... here i can open it with any software that can read video4linux.
there is also a plugin available for vdr that does the docing, so it doesnt require external programs to be run:
_maybe_ that can be a starting point to a pd object that takes the undecoded transport stream of a dvb card and decodes it then to feed it to gem, pdp, whatever....
greetings,
chris
p.s.: please use plain text as mail format .... since im reading text-only, all the html tags in a mail makes it pretty unreadable ....
