Oh yes, that's the problem. Thank you for clarifying this. It's better to have a version collision error than an automatic merge which can be overlooked. So i'll stick to my habit using binary mode.
FYI: I am pretty sure I set .pd files to be handled as binaries in the sourceforge repository for this very reason. Check out CVSROOT/cvswrappers to be sure.
