I sometimes do edit Pd files with a text editor, for example to do mass-substitutions.
That's interesting. I assume that you don't insert or delete lines, otherwise you would change the object numbering. So my question was rather if problems can arise concerning this object numbering. Anyway, as .pd patches seem to be stored in text mode in the sf cvs my concerns seem to be superfluous.
I don't know if CVS does this, but applications for a lot of other protocols (http, ftp) support a conversion between the different end of line conventions on Mac (\r), Unix (\n) and W32 (\r\n) systems. Maybe CVS does somethng similar in textmode?
It does to some extent... it seems the clients (at least the gui ones) support Unix and system native line endings. On MacOSX it is somehow vital to use unix style.
