Yes mp3 is for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 but some audio files with the extension "mp3" may be Layer I or II...
So, when i try to open a .mp3 with mp3play~, it returns "Layer II not supported" Actually, i think the layer is relative to the ratio : ...something like that -Layer I : 384 kbit/s -Layer II : 160..256 kbit/s -Layer III : 112..128 kbit/s

Hello list, i need to read mp3 files in Pd... i use object mp3play~ from iem_lib_mp3 but it doesn't support Layer II...
Isn't that a contradiction of terms? AFAIK,
.mp2 = mpeg audio layer 2 .mp3 = mpeg audio layer 3 .mpg = mpeg video layer or combined audio/video layers.
(is that wrong?)
