[temperature] - counts the number of 'input events' within a specified interval of time, can be used to detect the degree of activity on non-signal patch cords
Then you could use [spigot] or some other gate-like structure that you can open only when the "tempurature" gets higher (or lower).
The opposite of this would be MaxLibs's [speedlim], which essentially low-pass filters the input events, but cannot be "reversed" to only get the fast events AFAIK.
