The message only appears if HAVE_DV is defined, and HAVE_DV when HAVE_LIBDV is defined but i couldn't find where HAVE_LIBDV is defined in the source, and most interesting thing why HAVE_LIBDV or rather HAVE_DV is not defined...
you don't need to hack the code to define that, just use the configure script (look ./configure --help for all options) there should be an option for ieee1394 or dv or something like that ...
