if you plan on opening/closing subpatches during a performance, it invariably causes hiccups for me.
i had problem with dropouts, too, but i solved it by loading all subpatches from a ramdisk...
now that that is an awsome idea... i'm going to have to tinker with this.
to create a ramdisk under linux you need just a small script:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ram bs=1k count=2048 mke2fs -vm0 /dev/ram 2048 mount /dev/ram /usr/local/patchdir cp /usr/local/patchdir_hd /usr/local/patchdir -r
(you can only run this scirpt as root)
i don't know how to set up ramdisks with windows or macosx, but it shouldn't be that hard...
