It's good to know about this, do you remember who is working on that? I'm not really an expert but I'd like to help. I think there's a profound lack of documentation for using shaders on Gem, especially for the first time user. This is bad, its potential is incredible and it's quite straightforward once you get used to it.
i agree - unfortunately i don't remember where i picked that up that someone was making shader replacements for pix_ objects. i was hoping that that person reads the thread and speaks up.
By the way how is it going with the mask stuff?
in the end pix_takealpha was used because it was decided that the mask stays unanimated and the performance was sufficent. thank you for your patch http://www.mediafire.com/?6n6c5hqnd36hhu4 it's a very clear explanation of the shader and i'll use it for further reference.
