Actually there is still plenty of futzing and trying to line stuff up in a gop. Just having a Canvas as the background makes it easier to set sizes in text files.
Buut of course Frank knows exactly what he did, and I am sure he will answer the question at some point.

Tecnically a gop doesnt have a background color. I would assume that Frank is using a Canvas object as part of the patch, and the GOP just shows you the canvas color.
