i compiled gem without problems from cvs in ubuntu/breezy (note, i compiled pd, pdp and pidip first, so dunno if they had some depencies that are not listed here)
depencies: libgl-dev ftgl-dev libtiff4-dev libjpeg62-dev libmpeg3-dev libavifile-0.7-dev libquicktime-dev libdv4-dev
Gem GemLibs 2. cd Gem/src 3. autoconf 4. ./configure 5. make
then if you want, "sudo make install" or "sudo checkinstall" (if you checkinstall, then you can also remove it with dpkg)

pdeople,
i'm trying to run Gem with ubuntu's installs, but i get an error:
/usr/lib/pd/extra/Gem.pd_linux: undefined symbol: vorbis_info_clear Gem: can't load library
has anyone seen this before? i have all the vorbis libs + headers installed. why is Gem even talking about vorbis?
Hi,
there is a bad gem package stuck in the debian testing distribution. This obviously got taken by ubuntu directly. There is no easy solution to the problem, except to compile gem on your own probably.

thanks, jake
