Hi Chris,
In 0.38 (still in test) you can send a numeric argument to tabwrite~ to set the write pointer. This, and sending a leter "stop" message, should be all you need.

Ey,
Couple of years ago I needed to write~ to a table changing the write pointer position on the fly: http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-dev/2002-09/000292.html
Seems that this never made it into the official version. Someone else mentioned tabwrix~ at the time: http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-dev/2002-09/000279.html
But I can't find a current version of this around at the moment. So what's the lowdown on setting the write position of tabwrite~? Is there an external to do this? Should I just patch my pd source again?
Best,
Chris.
