Hello.
a while ago i have discovered that the Makefile (from vanilla tree) is not installing some files very right .. it gives an executable permission to some regular files , the help-patches and html docs
sugessted correction is to add -m644 arguments to 'install' command in lines 173 and 178 of 'src/makefile.in'
as a sysadmin, i find it a bit annoying that regular files got exec permission ..
i just found out that it might be fine on some systems - deppending what is the defualt mode that 'install' gives ...
so on my system ( gentoo linux ) it sets exec by default
i could't find out any way of changing this defult apart from during compilation of binutils perhaps ..
but is is probably better to get this fixed, i think
there is the same problem with some Makefiles of externals and abstractions in CVS @sf.net
could be nice to have this fixed in 0.41-release
cheers.
