As mentioned in a following reply, it seems to have something to do with the SBLive. I have the exact same problem under WinNT.
However, there is an easy solution...if you have a compiler. Just go to s_nt.c and look for the function nt_resyncaudio(void). Immediately return and don't do anything. This solved the problem for me.
I just did a performance a couple of weeks ago with an SBLive and had Pd w/ audio and Pd w/ GEM on the same box (dual processor). It ran great with around 250 ~ objects (using some switches as well).
