That's interesting. I assume that you don't insert or delete lines, otherwise you would change the object numbering. So my question was rather if problems can arise concerning this object numbering.
The problems start when you have to do a merge or if two people are working on a .pd file at the same time. (and this gets merged later). CVS fails while doing this, (it doesnt know about the importance of object order and amount for the connect messages at the end) and this makes the .pd file unusable.
Oh yes, that's the problem. Thank you for clarifying this. It's better to have a version collision error than an automatic merge which can be overlooked. So i'll stick to my habit using binary mode.
