Hello, Alex.
When you say "running slow," do you mean that the Tk gui updates sporadically? That's a factor of not running the latest Tcl/Tk.
Also, are you using the html documentation online, because Miller has actually updated it compared to the docs in the distribution: http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/Pd_documentation/x3.htm#s1.4
With the bad directory problem... did you copy the whole folder into your /Applications directory?
If list old-timers will excuse the plug, Alex, you can also use the alternative MacOSX double-clickable .pkg installers I've put at: http://homepage.mac.com/atl/pd/installers.html Both include a recent Tcl/Tk for 10.2.x, and install the files at /usr/ local/pd. The "Extended" package includes some Mac-like GUI tweaks, too.
Hope something in there is a help.

hello, I am a Max user converted into a Pd one. However, I have some difficulties to make it work on my Mac OS 10.2 I have followed the documentation and managed to start up pd. But when I launch the documentation from the menu help or when I try to open a file from the file menu, it outputs an error window saying for example: Error: bad directory "/Applications/pd-0.36-0/bin/../doc" And it is impossible to open anything. also, it seems to run slowly when I draw some patches. Any ideas where that may come from ? Something I do wrong ? PS: my tcl/tk version is Tcl 8.4a4 & Tk 8.4a4, I know there is a newer version but that is the only one I manage to install as describe in the pd doc. Thanks.
