Yes i agree distro does not matter too much, i use redhat as that was what a friend who taught me was using but i have heard good things about debian and Suse fo running audio i do recommend intsalling ALSA for your soundcard. and go to http://www.linux-sound.org/
for the smorgasbord of applications to run.
cheers~

hi dirk,
i changed to linux couple weeks ago and got pd running yesterday (very easy when you know how)
i don't think which distro you use is a big matter, atleast for starters i would recommend suse or redhat because the install is so easy (i got suse8.1)
if you need help i'll be happy to help if i can...

Hi
Well, I spent the last few days studying pd , and I must say that I like it very much indeed. The creative possibilities are very inspiring. I decided though that I should finally get into Linux as well. (Using msw until now). I must keep msw on my computer, so I'll do a dualboot set-up. Having never used Linux before, are there any preferred distributions for use with audio, or doesn't that matter at all?
Thanks Dirk
