thanks everyone. iv managed to change the settings in regedit now, but im getting into all kinds of different problems now. it seems to be selecting the right devices but sometimes the input port for my echo indigo io just dissapears, then sound stops working in all other software as well as pd..
sometimes i wish things were simpler. maybe i'll stop using windows.

hello,
i don't want to have to go to the ASIO settings dialog a choose the devices i want every time i run pd, so i've tried putting
-asio -audioindev 4 -audiooutdev 6
in the startup dialog "flags" text box, and now when i try to start pd i get an error, so i cant get back to the startup dialog to change it.
If you are on Windows, open regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pd and delete the corresponding loadlib entry (you'll find it easily).
To select an audio device on start up I use a batch file which executes:
pd -asio -audiodev 12
and it works for me...
