cheers hc., one problem: where do i find the org.puredata.pd.plist file ? i downloaded the xsample folder for mac osx from thomas' website. the folder contains the binary, two demos and help patches. is there another meaning hidden with when you say "comes with the Pd binary" ? how do i obtain it ?

Try copying the org.puredata.pd.plist file that comes with the Pd binary. Copy it to ~/Library/Preferences.
