i'm trying to deal with latency in my winzoz system with hdsp rme multiface. my latency settings are 128 or 256 samples block..and it works very well in Bidule and other software. in the pd asio panel i can't set the latency lower than 18 ms....if
i
go 16 ms i get bad crackles. does it mean that my total output latency is 256 sample (around 5 ms at 44100) plus those 18 ms? is anyone with a similar setup able to go lower?
my system: pd-0.37.4, winxp, 1.7GHz Intel Mobile, HDSP RPM
the lowest reachable settings on my machine are 64samples(minimum) in the HDSP-Settings and 5ms in pd's audio-settings dialog (asio). actually i don't know, what latency this is resulting in.but when i speak through a mic/[adc~] /[dac~]/earphones i hardly feel the latency. when doing more 'sophisticated' stuff, i usually set the pd-audio-dialog to a higher delay (20ms) in order to avoid clicks and crackles.
i got reports, that the native asio in devel allows you to run the
hdsp
with pretty low latencies .... there is a rather old build: http://www.geocities.com/themokabar/software.html
thank for posting this. i will check this out and give you report.
cheers roman
