this is a problem with gem's debian package too. i think that ftgl-dev is available vor amd64 too, so it shouldn't be a real problem (but rather a bug in the debian-package which i have already filed and gnther is aware of (i hope))
There is a new version in unstable. Please test and report back. I also made some improvements to the build system showing the features actually compiled in after the configure step, and I have hopefully fixed the dv input stuff. Patch attached for Mr. thewade and the gem devel team. This time you have to do autoconf in order to generate configure before running configure.

03.ChangeText.pd Gives me a seg fault!
this is because of the non-FTGL support (everyone using deb-packages and that tried looking at aymeric's gem-flyer has noticed this behaviour) this is really a bug.
01.primQuad.pd doesnt seem to do anything
strange. does it give you any warnings like "compiled against openGL-1.0" ?
i don't think that the change to configure has to do something with this.
02.fountain.pd part_velsphere: this is obsolete, use [part_velocity sphere <x> <y> <z> <r>] instead
right. neither an error nor does it break something. it just says: "don't use [part_velsphere], use [part_velocity] instead"
I just post these either to report changes, or to get help reconfiguring my build of Gem. Thanks for the help!
the problem is, that i don't yet have (nor understand) gnther's changes to the configure-script.
thanks for the reports.
