one more detail, while waiting for these new objects in pdp :
right now, you can use gem capture objects and convert them to pdp with gem2pdp bridge, the drawback is that the bridge slows down the framerate ( a lot ) because it's based on OpenGL capture. ( IOhannes, do you think there's another way of doing this ? )

oke, now i know the plan to have a really functional capture interface in PDP :
a/ do a vloopback object that can interface with Coriander ( http://www.tele.ucl.ac.be/PEOPLE/DOUXCHAMPS/ieee1394/coriander/ ) to support IEEE1394 capture on linux.
b/ support v4l2 in pdp_v4l ( which now only supports v4l ). is it upward compatible by the way? anyone?
c/ do a quicktime based capture object for OSX ( we will borrow some code from Gem, thanx ).
d/ windows, errr, windows, no plans for this. ( anyway, pdp does NOT run on window )
any volunteers? we're hiring !! ( but i dunno if you'll get paid for that )) )
