thanx for the tip, i ll have a look into it. about behaviour: there was one unusual thing to mention, when i booted yesterday my machine my soundcard was excluded of the autodetect, and i had to remove this skip to have /dev/dsp again.

nope .... pd-0.36-0 with gcc 3.2.3 works fine (debian) I also checked with a slightly outdated devel_036 from cvs and it works here ...
that's a really weird one , otherwise your machine behaves normal ? iare you sure it's a straight downnload from millers page , no changes ?
maybe try:
strace pd ltrace pd gdb pd (and after the segfault) bt
