actually, you will get into some problems (hopefully not).
Chris compiled it succesfully with xcode. I tried to do it from the terminal and failed. there is a recent thread on that.

did you compile it or are you using a precompiled gem?
a few people are having problems with 10.6 ... but I haven't tried the precompiled version yet...
Just using the binaries of pd-extended. Have never compiled anything on a MAC before only in Linux. Guess it's similar. If this would help I could give it a try. Jim

also, to fully install the macam drivers, you need to move the macam.component into /Library/Quicktime.
you should have an alias folder to drag it when you download macam....
Thanks for the help everyone. I tried the same setup PD version etc. on a friends laptop. I was using a mini mac running OSX 10.6 . He is using OSX 10.5 and it worked fine on his machine but not mine. Has anyone else seen a problem with 10.6 where there was no problem in 10.5. Does this mean I have to downgrade to 10.5 or is there something else I can try in 10.6 to get the camera working? Normally I work in Linux so I'm not too MAC savy. Thanks, Jim

The first error -9408 is a driver error that it cannot do what is being asked. Basically, the driver doesn't want to work for whatever reason. Can you uninstall the macam drivers and try the Apple USB Video Class driver?
