The [bark] object in the latest timbreID analyzes samples loaded to tables in non real time and reports the onset times. If you're going to make a new patch, it'll probably make the process of finding onsets easier. In the help file, after you hit the "analyze" button you can play back any segment in the [pd segmented-player] subpatch. You can expand on it from there to do whatever you're after.
