You could try the CVS build of GEM which seems to be more stable than gem 0.87 and has [pix_videoDS] built in (note the slightly different object name).
I've been using the build from www.bogusfront.org. I assume that with this build (dated Mar 16 2003) that I do not have to load the pix_video_ds.dll in my batch (after the gem.dll as per your instructions) since it's built into Gem. Also, thanks for pointing out the object name change. But I still can't get this to work.
