you need to be sure to use the last version of jack 0.100.0. also, i really recommand you to use the patched pam stuff to have realtime audio going on in linux. if you are using debian, you can follow the howto here it works on testing (etch):

Thanks for these hints. I checked my jack-version: I'm using 0.100 already. I also use the rlimits stuff. I'm not using the realtime preempttion patches, however I may add, that "normal" Pd patches that don't use the network-connection are running very stable and without xruns.
