Hi there,
To be able to build imagemagick programs you need to have the libmagick9-dev package installed. Traditionally on debian (and many other distros) it's assumed that you won't want to be compiling things yourself, so the required headers etc. are split out into a -dev package to save disk space & download time.
And yes, libmagick9-dev is quite an obscure name for it.

Hi, Im trying to compile pidip but on the ./configure Im getting
checking for XWindowByProperty in -lmagick . . .no configure error: screen captures requires Imagemagick library!!
This is on debian (kanotix distribution)
I found a reference in the list archive but Im afraid its doubledutch to me as i have according to package manager imagemagick 7:6.2.4.5-0.8 installed.
Any pointers on how to proceed would be really appreciated
my configure looks like this if that matters.
./configure --with-pd=/home/nicky/pd39/pd-0.39.2 --with-pdp=/home/nicky/pdp/pdp-0.12.4/
PD and PDP were installed using apt-get install.
holy moly this linux is a steep learning curve :)
