That is the main reason JJ, when you've built a patch and made a terrible mistake so it crashes every time you load it, having dsp 0 by default seems entirely sensible. You can also disable all loadbangs and a few other things on launch to help you debug
-noloadbang -nogui -nomidi -nodac -noadc
all these have been useful to me at one time.

ive always thought the DSP turned of was proper because everyone is working with different processing powers , its easy to make a computer completely grind to a halt with large works in PD , depending on your processing power . the large number of people who use PD for visuals may not even need it on at all .
isn't it just a matter of hacking Pd's tk files to load with DSP on ?
