But the final conclusion is: I'll be able to use my tablet in Pd!!! (-:

as for tablets, they usually allow to switch between absolute and relative mode. if the tablet reports realtive events only, its probably just set to do so.
iirc, wacom tablets allow the toggling between abs/rel mode with one of their "function keys" at the top row of the tablet. otherwise you may need a small tool to set it to abs mode.
maybe you had id connected to something that has set it to relative mode once .....
