hello,
did you try apt-get install pd in order to install pd without compiling? it should work.
otherwise, you can try : mkdir ../obj mkdir ../bin and then the make should work...

Apologies if this is a 2xpost, ive already sent this mail but nothing appeared on the list, probably because i hadnt subscribed...
Hi, I hope this is the right place to post, im trying to install pd onto my laptop running ubuntu breezy 5.10. i get past the ./configure phase and the make depend [ which outputs "nothing to be bone for "depend"" ] but i get errors when i try to make [ or sudo make ]
Here you go:
will@ubuntu:~/downloads/pd_files/pd-0.39-1/src$ make cc -g -O2 -DPD -Wall -W -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-unused -Wno-parentheses -Wno-switch -O6 -funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -DDL_OPEN -DPA_USE_OSS -DPA_LITTLE_ENDIAN -DUNIX -DUNISTD -DUSEAPI_OSS -I../portaudio/pa_common -I../portaudio/pablio -I../portmidi/pm_common -I../portmidi/pm_linux -fno-strict-aliasing -DPA_USE_ALSA -DUSEAPI_ALSA -DINSTALL_PREFIX="/bin" -I. -c -o ../obj/g_canvas.o g_canvas.c Assembler messages: FATAL: can't create ../obj/g_canvas.o: No such file or directory make: *** [g_canvas.o] Error 1
Which is true there is no file g_canvas.o but there are files g_canvas.c and g_canvas.h in the src directory.
Im new to linux but ive looked in the makefile and theres some stuff relating to .o and .c, heres the start of that:
