Aye - the vst~ object needs a fair bit of work still - its now with the cvs externals project (haven't got the link) so if you feel like adding multi channel support :-). You should be able to use a midi loop back adapter to control reacktor since it runs stand alone - I am sure that I had it working like that at one point
I'll have a look to see if I've got that patch on a backup disk
my music gets stuck in ruts if I keep using the same patches.
cheers

i agree, i use a ton of different programs for all different stages of my music.. my background is in performance and because i only have one computer i like to be able to do most of what i want in one place.
i tried the vst~ object in pd, and it was almost perfect.. there is just one flaw which makes it hard to use for my purpose. ... it seems to only be able to accept midi in from one channel. one of the nice things reaktor does is enable you to map different instruments to different midi channels all in one patch... the only way i could see using more than one reaktor instrument in a pd patch was to have multiple vst~ instances... but that's way to cpu intensive...
unless i missed something basic, which is always posible/probable =)
would it be posialble to get a copy of that granular patch from you? i'd love to take a look at it.

Hi,
To be honest I think that using a single tool for everything will be seriously limiting (when you've got a hammer everything looks like a nail....or tubular bells:-)) - why not use PD to control reaktor (via a midi loopback or vst~). I use a wide variety of tools and tend to use things to their strengths.
Having said that trying to make things in pd can make all sorts of interesting instruments - I have an excellent granlular synthesis patch that has a number of bugs (bad loop indexing, glitchy envelopes etc.) but for a couple of tracks it was just the right tool.

hi,
up until recently i have used reaktor for all my music/art but i'm not starting to feel limited by what it can do. i've been using pd for a long time for video/graphics installation work (with ben bogart), and have done
a
little audio work with it. i've been able to write some patches to do a
lot
of the things i can't do in reaktor, but i haven't been able to
efficiently
reproduce the simpler things that i use all the time, like a multi sample polyphonic sampler. i'd like to switch entirly to pd eventualy, but i
need
to figure out how to create these basic building blocks first.
so, my actual question is, does anybody have any tips for pathc building? or has anybody else started something like this? i basically want to
create
a library of abstractions for all the basic components that i need for composition.
anyway, if anybody has any tips i'd love some help.
