Hey HC,
This sounds really interesting. Very inline with the work of Christian klippel on a microprocessor platform using the HID protocol. Also this would be of VERY high value to the "Art interface device" people feel free to add yourselves to "aid@interaccess.org" if your not already on it. (very low traffic. lots o' lurkers.)
Keep me posted! :)
I'm about to start build a ucapps controller, but a future HID controller would be pretty cool... :)

If the linux input event scheme supports RS232/USB adapters, but I am pretty sure it does not. The problem is mapping the data to input events.
I am working with Tom Igoe of ITP/NYU to try to figure out ways of incorporating microcontrollers into the [hid] framework. We have discussed a few ideas, now its time for some coding to see what works...

Anything the linux input event system handles? So could I plug an ultrasonic sensor into a USB port via an RS232/USB adapter and use HID that way? I've been doing this with [comport]

The grand plan for [hid] is to make it one object to access as many human interface devices as possible. Currently, it supports just about anything the Linux input event system does (which is a lot), and a number of devices on MacOS X. On Windows, you'll need to use [hidin] or [joystick]. .hc On Mar 14, 2005, at 2:40 PM, justin c. rounds wrote:
i'm not sure if [hid] is what you want -- if you are on windoze you could probably use the joystick external from here:

and hook the ps2 controller up to a ps2-to-usb converter like this one:

btw, i recommend this converter in particular because it can handle dance pad controllers (not all of them do). _ j

hi does [hid] will recognize signals from a Playstation2 controller? i will need to recognize left/right/up/down...... action to trigger pd events. any idea? tank you nicolas _______________________________________________ PD-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://iem.at/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pd-list
