netpd works well with pd-extended, try the test version. For
FedoraCore 4 or Mac OS X, you can download a autobuild:
http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/2006-09-16/
For windows, try an older test release:

Hi, what about using OSC messages over the network instead?
i just (incorrectly) assumed that this is what the poin of netpd was. if i can bypass netpd as you suggest that would be great. (tho i would like to eventualy jam with the netpd community).
Do you have the oscx objects?
No. As in binary object files? i would like to incorporate my laptop running Windows-PD because it has a decent sound card and it would be best if it generates the sound for everyone (ie others musicians on linux boxes in the room would be manipulating the version of PD on my laptop).

i knew a David Powers who was a teacher in Australia. Perhaps you? Probably a common name but i just thought i'd ask.

Hi everyone. i'm new to the PD mail-list and new to PD itself with which i was going to run a jam session and workshop at this place non-profit community space in Sheffield http://lowtech.org that i am volunteering at while visiting UK from Australia/Asia. We are running Fedora Core 3 (CCRMA).
i do need help to start with please...
It seems netpd requires the latest version of pd to be installed. (i couldn't run _chat.pd that the netpd community recommends with
my 0.37 version of pd). According to Roman:yes, the version matters. i don't know how well you know
puredata, but
0.39 introduces a new object [list], which is very cool and
makes life
of a pd-user much easier. also netpd makes use of this new
object. i'd
recommend anyway to install 0.39, it is really worth, not only
because
of netpd.
In installing 0.39 is where the installation nightmare begins.
The workshop is advertised for Thursday night and i am extremely anxious about getting netpd running. We are running Fedora (not debian) here. Below is where i outline the current problem to IOhannes m zmoelnig.
Am Cc'ing all the people who have kindly helped so far because
time is running out. Please do a REPLY-ALL so that these people do not answer the same question twice (they may not be on the pd-list).Thanks. i hope to be a contributing member eventually. In the meantime i am longing to get back to my Windows machine to
run my music apps! (if that doesn't inspire people to help nothing will :)Squiggle
PS Do i even need to run netpd to network several machines
running PD in one physical room?Oh, and since this is an introduction/Bio here are some links to
MP3's of my music: http://jo.koan.net/DJsqgl http://jo.koan.net/s2n http://jo.koan.net/dose http://jo.koan.net/lofipsyfly----- Original Message ----- From: "J0sip_Z74tk0_5+0J(sic)" sqgl@iprimus.com.au To: sqgl@iprimus.com.au Cc: zmoelnig@iem.at Sent: Tuesday, September 26, 2006 1:49 PM Subject: Re: checkout-developer-layout.sh
Found checkout-developer-layout.sh elsewhere on the net seeing as i cannot get it from your site.
So i ran it...
At the very start of the script i type in the password that is
suggested. This results in "cvs authorizaation failure" (or something like that) BUT... it does seem to go ahead and download everything i need. After the script is done, i go to pd/src folder and try ./configure as suggested in INSTALL.txt but am told there is no such file
The next thing suggesed in INSTALL.txt is a "make install" as superuser. Unfortunately this ends up bombing out with 11 errors (including syntax errors) and about as many
warnings in
"t_main.c"
Does this mean that someone accidently released non-working source of pd?
Should i instead install an older version of pd? Tho wouldn't that make netpd impossible to run if i had older
version?
i'm totally lost now, hope you can make sense of all of this. Thanks again for volunteering your time for your admin of the
site,
hopefully my feedback will help.

Thanks. Now i get the following message when i open the cvs.sourceforge.net page (which in turn attempts an auto-redirect) "The connection was refused when attempting to contact cvs.sourceforge.net"
