OK, so for OS X, one should use the same mechanism with deken as for Windows. Which leaves only a need to state dependencies for Linux users.
This still leaves a need for a way to tell Linux users about dependencies for deken packages.
Still, I can think about a scenario that may need additional components that are not able satisfiable by packing shared libraries, e.g. a library that communicates with a local server of some kind?
