did you make sure you removed all four tcl/tk8.4 packages? in debian they are:
tcl8.4 tk8.4 tcl8.4-dev <--headers tk8.4-dev <--headers
then install the equivalent 8.3 packages for your distribution, recompile / reinstall pd and try again. your error does most probably relate to incompatibilities with tcl/tk8.4(-dev).
