I have the M-Audio Quattro USB thingie.
I configured an .asoundrc according to Patrick Shirkey's example on alsa-project.org. I can play music with alsaplayer, using the quattro1 or quattro2 devices.
But I cannot use Pd with any of the alsa-devices in that asoundrc like "-alsadev quattro" nor directly with "-alsadev default".
I'm using the current Debian package 0.36.0-cvs5, but cvs3 didn't work, either. Alsa is 0.9rc7. The error I'm getting is:
ALSA lib pcm_hw:454(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe
A bit more info:
This problem only is valid on my Acer Travelmate 225xc notebook, as I found out now. I plugged the Quattro into my main PC, and here Pd started with "-alsadev hw:3,0" (usb-audio is the third card here) and played the test tone...
