since the camera handling on os x is done by quicktime any usb or fw
cam should work with pd if it works in quicktime.
correct me if i'm wrong.

Firewire webcams, only USB! Doh!How do USB cams fare with the PD, GEM and Mac OS X combo? I'm sure

Thank you that's a great advice! auto focus on iSight happens too often for me and the image gets blurred for some time and the patch gets lost.

I'm using Apple iSight with GEM/PD on Mac OS X Tiger. Everything is pretty much fine, except for the autofocus roaming, which sometimes happens if you point iSight at something like a flat white wall, but autofocusing can be switched off by sending [dialog( message to pix_video and configuring everything in the appearing dialog.

Hi all,
I'm about to go out and buy a webcam for integration of live footage. via gem's pix_video, into my current patch. Any advice tips etc on what to look for?
I'm using Mac OS X and preferably want a firewire cam due to available ports. What works, what doesn't?...or can I buy any cam?!
