So what you state as the real reason why it was created, is nothing but the official statement of the IRCAM, regardless of actual facts?
As far as the architecture of jMax itself, I quite like the idea of aclient/server in the way it was implemented.
This was the idea behind IMPD.
But the notion of need a separate machine to run the gui, is ridiculous.
I've never "needed" that, and have successfully run several gallery installations and one computer-assisted theatre performance without ever using a remote GUI.
(Nevertheless, it's been a year that we have switched away from jMax for all our shows)
