I'd welcome any clues anybody has about fixing the graphical driver problem which is apparently in my X configuration and preventing xvideo from working correctly. I'm using ati's fglrx as my driver.

Perhaps I'm wrong that this isn't unusual. If I am wrong, how would I fix and does it matter or is pdp_glx just as good?
your pdp_xv issue is a graphical driver problem, you have to fix your X configuration. pdp_glx is slower for bigger resolutions.
I'll look deeper at the objects you mention. I assume I can convert to quicktime by reading the video in with pdp_live~ or pdp_theorin~ and writing them back with pdp_rec~?
you should read the quicktimes with pdp_qt, not pdp_live~, to sum up :
.mov -> pdp_qt .avi, .mpg -> pdp_live~ .ogg -> pdp_heorin~
suerte, sevy
Any ideas about how I might fix gem2pdp? pdp2gem works great, btw...
