yeah, I get if for the "" key...
I've been complaining that we should be able to use "$0" in messages for the sake of simplicity. Apparently you can if you use "" before it... BUT... Pd does not allow you to write it... as if it REALLY did not want you to do it...

I get that message when hitting Cmd-\ and Cmd-Shift-|, but not with | (pipe) alone. | (pipe) is needed for such lovely things like || (or).

If you're trying to type a tilde try shift and the key directly above your right shift and left of the enter key.
