hmm, $ dpkg -L puredata-core | grep bin /usr/bin/puredata
so if you have puredata-core installed and there is no /usr/bin/puredata then something is wrong....
whereis puredata puredata: /usr/lib/puredata /user/share/puredata
well i get: puredata: /usr/bin/puredata /usr/lib/puredata /usr/bin/X11/puredata /usr/share/puredata /usr/share/man/man1/puredata.1.gz
whereis pd pd: /usr/include/pd
Can't run Pd so the rest is currently superfluous.
Urgh - feels like user-error somewhere along the line. Reinstalling the whole thing seems a bit sledgehammer/nut-like but this is getting tedious.
the "whole thing" should only be "puredata" (+ dependencies). probably you want to try a more interactive package manager, like "aptitude", where you can inspect the exact versions that are installed and that are going to be installed/upgraded easily.
