I searched online and came across a PD patch that had a .dll file.
What it does is it figures out the number of axes and buttons. The only

It may be worth looking in the game devices properties in the control
panel, apparantly there is a calibration wizard. There doesn't seem
to be one for my sidewinder, but maybe it doesn't need it. You could always make a kind of 'calibrate/scale joystick' abstraction
if it's still a problem.
- there is an "8-way hat switch" on the wingman, and this patch
doesn't recognize it.
Yes, I have the same problem. I think it would be quite easy to make
a [joystick] external which did recognise and use the hat, though.
I'd be interested to find out whether my [hid] external supports that
hat switch. It wouldn't be hard to add support for it. Its currently
GNU/Linux and Mac OS X only tho, donno if I'll do the Windows port.
Maybe someday.
