the deken plugin as shipped with Pd, lacks the apt-integration. "pd-deken-apt" provides a plugin-for-deken (extending the functionality of deken) that allows tight integration with apt.
so if you do want a deken-with-apt, then you need pd-deken-apt. However, ubuntu will likely complain if you want to install the pd-deken-apt without having either the "puredata" (>=0.47) package or the "pd-deken" package from ubuntu installed. this is because ubuntu does not know that you have self-compiled a Pd-0.47.
