Yes, I am trying to use the newest versions of all code in the test versions. That's why they are called test versions. In general, test releases are built from the HEAD of CVS.
If you need something stable, use the stable releases. Otherwise, please submit bug reports when using test versions so that the bugs can be fixed.

To chime in on this:
Cyclone library is broken on Windows, on the last couple of PD extended releases. I described the disappearing object problem I had before; now, however, they just crash PD
Also, on PD 0.39.3 extended ----> GEM is seriously broken. Switching back to 0.39.2 ext solves the problem. I think Hans used some different, newer CVS version of GEM? Please DON'T use that version on Windows. Many, many objects don't work (definitely, pix_2_sig~ and counter and some others.
Overall, however, the 0.39.2 extended runs reasonably well on Windows, and finally having lists is extremely helpful.

Why not use the builtin
[list prepend $1] | [list trim]
- oh, it?s a new!
[list] is *the* new thing in Pd 0.39 plus the new GOP handling.
- backwards compatibility.
And maybe also to be able to use RRADical, which I still haven't adopted to make use of Pd 0.39's new features.
- other cyclone objects also crash (my) pd: buddy, fromsymbol, funnel,
grab, prob, pv, substitute, tosymbol, universal, xbendin/xbendout, xnotein, zl
I'd suppose you try recompiling. I can confirm that Cyclone objects do run without changes in Pd-0.39 generally, at least on Linux.
Ciao
