Hi,
I'm, again, going to try to step into linux world, and see if I can do
something more useful with it than visiting webforums this time.
Great!
How to get -1ms latency? Does
Ubuntu studio makes a difference?
Ubuntu studio has more audio packages to choose from. More-over, it has a realtime kernel. (For the next version, they're also working on a tickless kernel. That should give you lower latency.
Why is jack so complicated to start?
It's not :-) Seriously, Jack is hard to setup, but once you've figured that out, you can use the jack control panel, which is quite easy. If you have trouble with that, just ask. (I'll be away until the end of the week though.)
Is
ardour already working? (last time I saw it in the school's studio, the
only way to have a session open for a long time was not to touch it) ...
Ardour is working really good these days, it's said. Have not used it myself yet.
I'm not a beginner with computers, but I'm not yet very at ease in unix
console, because quite soon it gets very frustrating - although I would
like to learn, but don't have time to be spending on man pages. And I
don't do emacs, or won't go straight to debian.
Open configuration files in gedit. If you start it with sudo, you can save changes to your system configuration.
